ISLAMABAD, Oct 9: A complex will be built at Shakarparian which will house ethnological and archeological museums, says a statement issued here on Tuesday.
The complex would be built at a four-acre land allotted by the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the statement said.
A meeting was held at the culture ministry in this connection. It was presided over by Federal Minister for Culture and Tourism Col (Rtd) S.K. Tressler.
The meeting was also attended by culture secretary Samin Jan Babar, Archeological and Historical Association of Pakistan president Dr Ahmad Hasan Dani, the association secretary, Dr Ghazanfar Mehdi and senior officials of the ministry.
The participants of the meeting discussed various aspects of the complex and agreed to hold an international conference on Karakuram in Gilgit in September 2002; organize a cultural caravan to Chitral and Jashn-i-Multan.
These programmes will be organized by the association with the cooperation of the culture and tourism ministry as part of the celebrations of “Year of the Mountains 2002.”
