LAHORE, April 15: Chestnut filly Hidden Pearl showed an impressive turn of speed to capture the Brave Act Cup under the guidance of top jockey Shahid Rehman during the 33rd Lahore Winter Meeting at the racecourse on Sunday.

The three-year-old Haji Abid Mahmood-trained animal justified her 25 to 100 favouritism when she set up a good pace right from the start in the event run over 1,100 metres, before accelerating in the straight to spare seven and-a-half lengths over bay filly Golden Rose at the finishing line Bay horse Let Me Shine was nosed out into third place with filly Magical Time fourth, another three lengths back. Eight ran after the last-minute withdrawal of Right One from the feature event, which was the seventh race of the day.

A race later, filly Mutajil Queen, brilliantly ridden by jockey M. Hanif, won the supporting event, the Brave Act Plate class V division II run over 1,100 metres. She beat mare Mirana Shaheen by three-fourth of a length with favourite filly Love To Win third.

The best performer of the day was chestnut mare Pocket Money, who won the third race.

Riders Munir Hussain and Qasim Salahuddin and trainers Haji Abid Mahmood, Qaiser and Zia-ur-Rehman shared the racing honours on Sunday.
