LONDON, Dec 8: Flamboyant Czech Petr Korda beat former Wimbledon champion Michael Stich 6-1 6-4 in the final of the Honda Challenge seniors’ tour event at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday.
Korda had never won a tournament in Britain before his 61-minute victory over German Stich, and the 34-year-old celebrated his triumph by cartwheeling across the baseline after converting his second match point.
“I did a cartwheel and a scissors kick, even (played) good tennis — I gave you everything that I know,” said Korda, who lost last year’s final to Frenchman Guy Forget.
Stich said: “If he practised for a couple of months I think...he would beat a lot of those guys on the main (ATP) Tour.”
