GUJRAT, Dec 8: Provincial and district governments will work together for the welfare of citizens while his government will make all-out efforts for the stability and success of the district government system.

This was stated by Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi while speaking to a gathering of various delegations comprising MPAs, Nazimeen, Naibs, councillors and other politicians at Zahoor Palace here on Eid day.

He advised the legislators as well as the elected councillors to work together for the larger public interest in their respective areas.

They should fulfil the aspirations of the common people with whom they had made commitments before the general election, he said.

The chief minister said his government’s top priority was to eliminate poverty and unemployment, provide better health and education facilities besides promoting the agriculture sector.

Several uplift projects, Mr Elahi said, would be initiated in various districts of the Punjab, especially in the southern part and backward areas.

Construction of new schools and colleges, sewerage projects, setting up of new hospitals, RHCs, BHUs and creation of light and heavy industries were among the plans of the provincial government, he said. He also promised to release necessary funds for making Gujrat a model district in the province.

Parliamentary leader of the PML(Q), Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, his brothers MNA Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain and district Nazim Chaudhry Shafaat Hussain were also present on the occasion. Meanwhile, former MNA Syed Manzoor Shah hosted an Eid milan party in the honour of Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi in Lalamusa on Saturday. The chief minister approved the construction of two overhead bridges and a maternity hospital in Lalamusa.
