QUETTA, Dec 8: A group of religious activists attacked and ransacked a circus and stalls established for the entertainment of people in connection with an Eid festival organized in Loralai, some 260 km north of here.

According to reports, a circus company organized a festival on Eid with the permission of district Nazim and local administration. Various stalls of food and other items were also set up for the enjoyment of locals, especially for the children. On Saturday evening, workers of a religious party disrupted the festival, and ransacked the circus and stalls established.

They also took away motorcycles and other items of the circus with them. Police have registered a case against an MPA of the Muttahida Majlis Amal, Maulana Faizullah, and two other local leaders of the religious bloc, including Mualana Toor Jan and Sirajuddin. However, no arrest was reported so far in this connection.

In the meanwhile, MMA leaders — Maulana Amir Zaman, Maulana Faiullaha and others — while addressing a public meeting in Loralai warned the local administration that the religious coalition would not tolerate such un-Islamic activities in the name of Eid festivals.
