TIMERGARA, April 11: A grade-7 student, who lost both his arms in a road accident seven years ago, has clinched first position in his class in his school’s annual examinations.

Farmanullah, who writes using his toes, has been studying at private Pakistan Model School in Khall, Lower Dir. The school director and former MPA Muzaffar Syed during the prize distribution ceremony of the school announced on Wednesday that the school would bear all the educational expenses of Mr Farmanullah till intermediate level.

A resident of Toormang told Dawn that doctors had cut both arms of Mr Farmanullah when he was seriously injured in a road accident. He said that father of the student, who is a labourer, admitted him to a private English medium school so that he could feel no discrimination.

Talking to media persons at Khall, Mr Farmanullah said that he wanted to get higher education and serve humanity.

“I study for over 10 hours daily,” the student said, adding that he could easily write using his toes, but his writing speed was slower than other students.
