ISLAMABAD, April 11: The Aabpara police on Wednesday arrested another impersonator who minted money under the guise of giving people jobs in Capital Development Authority (CDA).

The self-styled CDA inspector was nabbed in response to a complaint lodged by one of his victims, Asad Mehmood, a native of Sohan who said the accused – AR – claimed to be an inspector in the civic agency and took Rs90,000 from him to arrange job for him in the CDA.

Police arrested the accused who during interrogation confessed to the crime and said he had been arranging jobs in the CDA in connivance with its union member. But his claim later turned to be false when he failed to identify the same member at a gathering.

The police also recovered CDA’s official card from his custody. The accused was produced in the court from where he was given in police custody on physical remand. The complainant told Dawn that a native of his village, Mohammad Akram, introduced him with the accused two years back. Akram had also paid some amount to the accused to arrange job for his two nephews in the CDA.

The accused assured Mehmood to get him appointed Lower Division Clerk (LDC) in the agency and in this regard demanded Rs90,000. He said he paid Rs60,000 to the fraudster initially as the remaining amount was to be paid after getting the appointment letter.

Earlier, Aabpara police had booked an impersonator who fooled people posing himself as CDA’s director, and defrauded them in a similar fashion.
