ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari amused many on Thursday when he claimed he had “given the Sharif brothers their shine”, and that he “can take it away anytime.”

Addressing the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Punjab Executive council at the Governer House, Zardari further said that the Sharif brother were “Muhajirs” (migrants) in Lahore.

The next government in Punjab would be formed by the People’s Party, said the president.

Further criticising the Sharif brothers, Zardari said that they “did not even have enough people to attend their father’s funeral” and “had to take him to the Data Darbar shrine.”

Talking to DawnNews, Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leader Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan said that he was shocked at the president’s words.

Mushahid said that Zardari should refrain from making such comments, otherwise “people would begin to doubt his psychological condition.”
