ISLAMABAD: The power shortfall in the country has surged to around 4000 MW as the total generation on Tuesday was recorded as 11,171 MW during the last 24 hours.

According to the daily load management report, the hydel generation stood at 2466 MW, WAPDA thermal 1879 MW and IPPs 5826 MW during the said period.

As much as 700 MW electricity was supplied to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), the report further said.

The hydel generation has significantly reduced due to less water inflow from all major rivers and dead level water reserves at Tarbela and Mangla dams, a PEPCO official told APP.
