ISLAMABAD, Dec 5: President Gen Pervez Musharraf has extended warm greetings to all Kashmiri brothers and sisters on Eidul Fitr.
In his message, he prayed for the success of the Kashmiri freedom movement and reiterated the government’s resolve to continue providing all possible political, moral and diplomatic support to the courageous and legitimate struggle of the Kashmiris.
He assured them that Pakistan would persist in this policy until a fair settlement of the Kashmir dispute was reached in accordance with the wishes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The president also said: “As we celebrate Eid, we remember with respect and gratitude all those who have laid down their lives in the epic struggle against the Indian occupation. We also salute all our brothers and sisters in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir who have given enormous sacrifices and suffered untold atrocities at the hands of the Indian occupation forces.”
PREMIER’S MESSAGE: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, while greeting the valiant people of Jammu and Kashmir on behalf of the government and people of Pakistani, has asked India “to resume a purposeful dialogue with Pakistan for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute”.
He said: “For more than half a century, our Kashmiri brothers and sisters have been engaged in a courageous and legitimate struggle for freedom from the Indian subjugation. Since 1989 the harsh Indian occupation has become a virtual reign of terror.
“We respect and salute the grit and determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir as well as the sacrifices that they have made in their struggle to exercise their right to self-determination.”
He said that he would avail this opportunity also to pay tribute to the leadership of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference for guiding the Kashmiri freedom movement with ability, dedication and resolve, as well as for withstanding with great courage all the pressures mounted on them by India.
He said Pakistan was a recognized party to the Kashmir dispute and had moral and legal obligations to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The prime minister also vowed to continue full political, moral and diplomatic support to the freedom movement under way in the Indian occupied Kashmir.
The premier called upon the Indian government to put an end to its massive human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir; release all the APHC and other Kashmiri leaders; allow the APHC leadership to freely engage in political activity as well as to travel; withdraw Indian forces from the Kashmiri cities and towns; allow unfettered access to the NGOs and to the media inside Jammu and Kashmir and to resume a purposeful dialogue with Pakistan for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
HIZB’S MESSAGE: Kashmir’s largest militant group, Hizbul Mujahideen, on Thursday asked the Kashmiris to keep a vigilant eye on the Indian conspiracies in the wake of mysterious activities in the disputed state aimed at impairing the freedom struggle, adds our staff correspondent from Muzaffarabad.
Hizb supreme commander Syed Salahuddin greeted the people of Kashmir of Eid in a message which also request them to keep a hawkish eye on the Indian conspiracies.
Induction of Mufti Sayeed as the Kashmir chief minister, meetings of Ram Jethmalani’s Kashmir committee, establishment of dubious outfits, efforts to damage the Mujahideen groups, particularly the Hizbul Mujahideen, and a number of other mysterious activities warranted for strict vigilance on part of the Kashmiris, he explained.
Mr Salahuddin pointed out that India had unleashed a reign of terror in Kashmir during the last 13 years of liberation struggle, but had failed to demoralise the freedom-seeking Kashmiris.
He said that now New Delhi was trying to administer sugar coated poison to them by adopting a soft tone, apparently, in reference to the steps taken by the new coalition government in the Indian Kashmir to woo the Kashmiris.
The Indian policy makers and intelligence agencies must know that every conspiracy by them was bound to fail. The people of Kashmir could not be trapped into bowing before their illegal rule, he said.
It would have been better for the Indian leadership to know the Kashmiris wishes and spend resources on the uplift of its poor people by bringing a solution to the long-standing Kashmir problem.
He said the Mujahideen were aware of the Indian designs and were equally capable to thwart them.
The Hizb chief asked the Kashmiris on both side of the Line of Control not to forget the families whose members had been martyred during the freedom movement.
We should not forget such families in the happy moments of Eid because looking after them was the joint responsibility of the whole nation, he said.
