MIRPURKHAS, March 30: Sindh Minister for Sports Dr Mohammad Ali Shah opened the 15th Sindh Games in a colourful inauguration ceremony at the Gama Stadium amidst strict security arrangements here on Friday.

Ex-player of Mirpurkhas Mohammad Saleem Khan lighted the Games torch at the Gama Stadium.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the minister said it was the fourth time that the Sindh Games were being held in the interior of Sindh to encourage the sporting activities in the region.

He said the Mirpurkhas district had been worst affected in last year’s heavy rains and its grounds and infrastructure were also damaged, but it was to the credit of the district administration that the Sindh Games are being held here.

He announced to install floodlights in the Gama Stadium under annual development programme. Mirpurkhas Commissioner Ghulam Hussain, Deputy Commissioner Nadeemur Rehman Memon and organising secretary Ahmed Ali Rajput also spoke on the occasion. Later, children of different schools presented cultural tableau.
