Asif released on parole

RAWALPINDI, Dec 4: The jailed PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari, will be flown to Karachi from Islamabad on Thursday morning, an official source told Dawn on late Wednesday night.

Earlier, he was released on parole by a Rawalpindi court on Tuesday, the source said.

The former PPP senator, who has been kept at the PIMS hospital after declaring it a sub-jail, will be shifted to Karachi by PK-301 flight at 10am.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Rawalpindi, Syed Ishtiaq Hussain Shah, will accompany Mr Zardari who has been allowed to spend Eid-ul-Fitr with his family members in his hometown, Nawabshah, the source said.

Mr Zardari was flown to Karachi on Nov 8 to attend his mother’s funeral.
