ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday granted three weeks time to the government to do necessary legislation regarding right of vote to the overseas Pakistanis.

Attorney General (AG) for Pakistan Maulvi Anwarul Haq informed the three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, which resumed the hearing of a petition filed by Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, that the government would have to amend the People Representative Act 1976 and the Electoral Rolls Act 1974 for giving voting right to the overseas Pakistanis.

For the purpose, the AG requested the court to grant time.
