MARDAN, March 25: Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has asked political parties to shun their differences and forge unity for the sake of protection and prosperity of Pakhtun region.

Addressing a public meeting here the other day, he said his government was committed to resolving the problems of common man on priority basis. The public meeting was presided over by the ANP district president Farooq Akram Khan and attended by a large number of party workers belonging to Bagh-i-Rum, Rurya, Mahabat Abad union councils and other surrounding areas.

Mr Hoti said the whole country in general and the Pakhtun region in particular was facing the first ever critical situation of the history and conspiracies had been hatched against the Pakhtuns’ territories by different world powers.

He said they had to get united to thwart not only these vested designs of enemies but also bring prosperity in the lives of Pakhtuns.

Mr Hoti pointed out that Mardan, despite being the second largest city after Peshawar, was deprived of university and medical college facilities, adding soon after coming into power the ANP government along with other mega projects established the Bacha Khan Medical College and Abdul Wali Khan University in the city.

He said the Abdul Wali Khan University, having campuses in Nowshera, Swabi, Charsadda, Buner, Chitral and Karachi, had been spreading the light of education and knowledge.

The chief minister announced Rs6.03 million for purchasing 63 kanals of land for constructing graveyards at Bagh-i-Rum, Rurya and Iram colony.
