LAHORE: Pakistan Railways Minister Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour said on Saturday that his statement on Nato supplies was misquoted in a local newspaper and the parliament would decide about it under recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS.)

Addressing a press conference at PR headquarters here, the minister said that he had just mentioned the shortage of locomotives in case the Nato supply was restored.

Commenting on the contempt of court case against Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, the Awami National Party (ANP) leader said the judiciary was respectable but the parliament was mother of all institutions and supreme, however, the Supreme Court was to decide about the issue.

Speaking on railways, he said the government had approved Rs 6.5 billion for the restoration work which would be lent from banks. He said the amount and interest on the loan would have to be paid back to banks while the PR would not be liable to return a rupee in case the government issues the bailout package of Rs 11.1 billion.

The ANP leader said the government had also approved Rs 5 billion for the rehabilitation of 150 locomotives while Rs 19 billion was allocated for the purchase of 50 new locomotives.
