Five killed in truck-pickup collision

ATTOCK, Dec 4: Five persons died and three others were seriously injured in an head-on collision between a pickup and a truck on Wednesday morning, police said.

The pickup (CL 8486-Karachi) was on its way to Lahore when it collided with a speeding truck (JMB 986) on the GT Road near Burhan. Five persons were killed on the spot while three others received critical injuries.

The dead were identified as Sajawal Khan (pickup driver), Mohammad Islam, Mohammad Taj, Sardar Bahadur and Tariq Mehmood, residents of Hazro.

CHARAS SEIZED: The Attock police have seized 15kg charas during the routine checking and arrested an outlaw on Wednesday.

According to police, sub-inspector Rahat Nawaz of the Attock Khurd police station raided a passenger bus coming from the NWFP and arrested Aamiullah, a resident of Bara Market, Peshawar, and recovered 15kg charas from his possession.—Agencies
