HYDERABAD, Dec 4: The activists of the Sindhi Hari Tehrik staged demonstrations outside the press club and the DPO’s office here on Wednesday against the alleged excesses of the Tando Mohammad Khan police.

Talking to newsmen, SHT general secretary Vishnumal said inspector Shaukat and ASI Farman Agheem of the Tando Mohammad Khan police had registered a false kidnapping case against two leaders of the peasants organization, Anwar Rind and Teerathdas.

He said the influential area landlords, in connivance with the police, were trying to muffle the voice of the peasants.

He demanded an impartial officer should investigate the case.

Vishnumal said the police had arrested Pir Bukhsh Rind, the father of Anwar Rind.

He warned if Pir Bukhsh was not released, the SHT would launch a protest movement throughout the province.

HUNGER STRIKE: A group of the activists of the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party, belonging to the Sanghar district, staged a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Wednesday to protest against arrest of their colleagues.

Talking to newsmen, party spokesman Muzzaffar Kalhoro and others said the Sinjhoro police were harassing the villagers and had arrested Rajab Ali Khaskheli and two other activists of the party in false cases.

They deplored the police were taking no action against criminals but were implicating innocent people in false cases.
