KARACHI, March 20: A fine all-round performance by skipper Jaahid Ali helped Omar Associates Academy Whites to a thrilling one-run victory over Customs Cricket Academy (CCA) in the semi-final of the NBP Under-17 Inter-academies T20 Cricket League here at the RLCA Ground in Gulberg on Monday night.
Batting first, Omar Associates Academy made 151-4 with opener Jaahid striking 62 off 40 deliveries with the aid of eight boundaries. Waqar Ali contributed 29 that included three fours.
CCA, in reply, fell just two runs short of their target by finishing on 150-7. Rao Waqar (40 off 41 balls with two fours) and Hamza Ghanchi (25) were the main run-getters.
Jaahid, who was later declared the Man-of-the-Match, claimed two wickets for 21 runs with his off-spinners, while slow left-armers Saud Shakeel and Khurshid Shah each returned identical figures of two for 33.
Omar Associates Academy Whites will now meet PIA Cricket Academy in the final.
