LIVERPOOL: Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has insisted he is happy to stay at Anfield, following speculation linking him with a move away from the Merseyside club.

There have been reports the fall-out from the 25-year-old Uruguay international's eight-game ban for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra and the flak he received from opposing fans, would either lead Suarez to walk out on English football or Liverpool to sell him.

But Suarez, yet to complete a full season in the Premier League having joined midway through the previous term, dismissed such suggestions.

“I have spoken with people at the club and they know that I want to stay and that I am enjoying myself and am very happy here,” he told liverpoolfc.tv, the club's official website, on Monday.

“No one at the club has told me that they want to try to sell me or that I will be leaving.

“I'm going to carry on playing my football here at Liverpool. There are a good few years left on my contract and I want to carry on enjoying myself because both my family and I feel really happy here.”Suarez scored Liverpool's opener in Sunday 2-1 win over Stoke which put his side into the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Afterwards he dedicated his 11th goal of the season to Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba, who is critically ill in hospital after collapsing on the pitch at Tottenham with a heart problem.

“It's a very difficult moment,” he said.

“I think it is very important that we show our support, whether it be a message, or any kind of dedication, so that both he and his family know that not just me but the whole of football both here in England and throughout the world are right behind him and hoping that he will recover from his current situation.”
