KARACHI: Emergency steps for markets

KARACHI, Dec 3: The city government has made advance arrangements to meet any emergency situation in all shopping and business centres in view of growing Eid shopping rush in the metropolis.

Fully-equipped fire brigades vehicles and ambulances have been deployed in Boulton Market, Jodia Bazaar, Jama Cloth Market, Tariq Road, Saddar, Bohri Bazaar, Clifton, Bahadurabad, Haideri Market, Karimabad, Landhi-Korangi, Orangi Town, Shah Faisal and other areas.

The vehicles remain at these centres after iftar till late in the night.

The city government has directed the fire brigade department to keep only one machine deployed at the fire station and the rest of the vehicles be stationed at commercial and trade centres, markets and shopping malls. Ambulances of hospitals have also been deployed in the same manner.

Besides City Nazim Naimatullah Khan and DCO Shafiqur Rehman Paracha, members of the team nominated by the Nazim visit various areas to review arrangements.—APP
