DHAKA: The Pakistan cricket team arrived here on Thursday to compete in the four-nation Asia Cup tournament, which begins in the Bangladesh capital from Sunday (March 11).

The Pakistan team led by Misbah-ul-Haq along with new head coach Dav Whatmore reached Dhaka three days ahead of inaugural match against hosts Bangladesh in the tournament which also features India and Sri Lanka.

Talking to reporters here, Misbah dubbed the match against arch rivals India as “a tough one”, but added that his team has been playing good cricket following the World Cup last year barring the series against England and he is hopeful that his team will do better.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim admitted that his team will be under pressure in Asia Cup playing before a home crowd but added that it will also be a motivating factor of the team.

Responding to newsmen questions on the status of Tamim Iqbal inclusion in squad, Bangladesh coach Stuart Law said Tamim is fit and was included in the 15-member squad after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had given the clearance.—Agencies
