Wasa water tanker kills infant

RAWALPINDI, March 8: A three-year-old boy was killed after being run over by Water and Sanitation Agency’s (Wasa) water tanker in Awan Colony Pirwadhai on Thursday, police and victim’s family said.

The incident took place when a water tanker of Wasa was returning from Awan Colony after supplying water at a house.

According to eye witnesses, the driver was reversing the vehicle when the minor boy, later identified as Zahir Khan, son of Tahir Khan was crushed to death as he fell under one of its wheels. The injured was removed to district headquarters (DHQ) hospital where he was pronounced dead.— Staff Reporter

Sessions division inaugurated

ISLAMABAD, March 8: Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Iqbal Hameedur Rehman on Thursday formally inaugurated District and Sessions Division (East).

The inauguration ceremony was held in the old offices of Chief Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner where the new courtrooms would be constructed within a few days. The capital administration offices had already moved to their new complex at Sector G-11.

The ceremony was attended by five IHC judges and the judicial officers of the sessions divisions east and west.

The newly-established sessions division would deal with the cases related to 12 union councils and five police stations including Koral, Nilor, Bhara Kahu, Shahzad Town and Sihala while the union councils falling under its jurisdiction are Rawat, Sihala, Koral, Tarlai, Bhara Kahu, Kirpa, Chirah, Soan, Kurri, Tumair and Phulgran (villages of Ojri and Malpur).— A Reporter
