KARACHI, Feb 29: A day-long training session for Sindh police officers was held at the Police Training College, Saeedabad, on Wednesday. It was organised by the Society for Human Rights and Prisoners Aid, says a press release.

Titled ‘Refugee law and status of refugees in Pakistan’, the session was aimed at sensitising police officers on the concepts of human rights, refugees rights, application of Foreigners Act and the mandate of UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), it said.

UNHCR Karachi office head Sharjil Kharal, Karachi University’s sociology department chairman Dr Fateh Burfat and the organiser NGO’s Sikandar Mehmood and Mujtaba Korai made presentations on various topics.

PTC principal Ahmed Yar Chohan also spoke and gave away certificates to the participants, largely sub-divisional police officers and station house officers posted in Sindh, the press release said.
