LAHORE, Dec 2: Flour mills owners in Rahim Yar Khan and Multan have refused to lift the rotten wheat being offered by the Food Department.
This was stated by Pakistan Flour Mills Association chairman Mian Nadeem and other office-bearers during a meeting with the Punjab Food Director here on Monday.
They said that the mills in the two districts have not been lifting the foul smelling rotten wheat being offered by the department for the past four days and would not do so in future as well.
The director assured the mills owners that rotten wheat would not be supplied to them.
Wheat sowing: Wheat is expected to be cultivated over 148.266 million acres in the Punjab this year, yielding an estimated 15.626 tons of the crop.
This was stated by a Punjab Agriculture Department spokesman here on Monday while releasing the wheat cultivation and crop estimates for 2002-03.
The spokesman said that maximum area of 85.746 million acres was expected to come under wheat cultivation in Jhang district.
