DERA GHAZI KHAN, Dec 2: The local Anti-Terrorism Court judge on Monday issued arrest warrants for six leaders of outlawed Sipah-i-Sahaba (SSP), including Maulana Azam Tariq.

The judge directed the Rajanpur district DPO to produce them before court on Dec 9.

A case had been registered against them for delivering provocative speeches during the Nabuwwat Conference in Jampur, Rajanpur district, on July 31, 2000.

The arrest warrants have been issued against Maulana Azam Tariq, Maulana Izharul Haq Jhangvi, Maulana Sultan Ahmad, Maulana Faizul Haq, Khadim Hussain Dhiloon and Maulana Abdul Khaliq Rehmani.

Maulana Izharul Haq was shot dead by some unidentified assailants in Karachi a few months ago while Maulana Azam Tariq was released on Oct 30 last after the detention of 13 months. Maulana Tariq was also elected MNA in the Oct 10 elections.

kidnapPed:The employees of Tumandar Farooq Leghari allegedly kidnapped a local travel agent on Sunday and took him to the Tribal Areas.

Bashir Ahmad Bajrani and Ahmad Ali Bajrani who reportedly work at his residence in Fort Munro, allegedly kidnapped travel agent Majeed Tahir of Raja Travel Agency from Gaddai.

They claimed that Majeed owed them Rs24,000 but he was reluctant to give them the money.

When this correspondent contacted political assistant Javed Mahmood Bhatti, he said it was not a kidnap case. He claimed that the travel agent was Bajranis guest.

He said he was trying to resolve the issue through a jirga.

He said the Civil Lines police SHO had come to him on the complaint of the relatives of Majeed. They alleged that the kidnappers had the support of border military police officers who also belonged to Bajrani sub-clan of Leghari tribe.

Police mum: Police have failed to trace a murder accused who escaped from the district court premises on Saturday.

Neither his escape has been brought on record nor any action has so far been initiated against policemen guarding the judicial lockup.

Accused Faiz Mohammed, booked by Kot Mubarik police, fled the local judicial lockup after his production before a judge on Saturday with the alleged connivance of three police escorts who are also missing since then.

City DSP Malik Aftab Bhutta neither confirmed nor denied the escape, whereas the district police officer is apparently avoiding newsmen.
