QUETTA, Feb 22: The Pakistan People’s Party held a demonstration here on Wednesday to condemn the tabling of a resolution in the US Congress on the Balochistan issue and PPP leaders said the move was actually aimed at dividing the country.

A procession of PPP workers started from Sariab road and ended in front of the Quetta press club after passing through different roads. Chanting anti-US slogans, the PPP workers held party flags and banners and vowed to protect the integrity and solidarity of the country and frustrate the design of the anti-state elements.

PPP leaders while addressing the meeting accused the United States of conspiring to destabilise the region. They said the PPP leadership and workers had always rendered sacrifices for the integrity of the country, democracy and constitutional rule and they would not hesitate to repeat the tradition if needed.

MISSING PERSONS: The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons urged international human rights organisations on Wednesday to raise their voice against the incidents of disappearance of Baloch people and vowed to continue its struggle for justice.

Addressing a rally in front of the press club, VBMP chairman Nasrullah Bungulzai and the sister of Hafiz Saeed, who is missing, said that over the past two years at least 300 bullet-riddled bodies had been dumped by invisible forces in different parts of the province and thousands of other people were missing.

They said the VBMP members set up camps in Quetta, Islamabad and Karachi to draw the attention of the government, judiciary, human rights organisations and the media but regretted that the issue of missing persons did not get adequate support.

They emphasised that it was the responsibility of the government and judiciary to provide justice to citizens.

They alleged that intelligence agencies were involved in the abduction and murder of Baloch people and said the Baloch were being punished for raising their voice for rights.
