I WENT to NBP’s M.A. Jinnah Road branch on Feb 14 at 10am to pay motor vehicle tax for my Curore (AJY 248). I was told that the official concerned has not come yet and I must wait till 10.30.

As I was getting late for office, I left and went to NBP Guru Mandir branch. I was told by the staff that they do not receive such tax and I must go to Civic Centre. I went to Civic Centre at 12 noon, but the office was closed for lunch. However, the bank’s notice board stated that working hours are from 9am to 4.30pm without any break. The watchman said that the lunch break was the management’s instruction as they are having lunch. He asked me to wait till 2.30pm. I returned to my office without success.

On Feb 16 I sent my wife at 12.05pm to the NBP M.A. Jinnah Road branch. She was also told that the official concerned had not come and it was better if she came on Feb 17 or 20 to pay the tax.

She then went to the NBP Press Club branch. The staff said she must go to the NBP PIDC branch. I told her on the phone to go back home.

How will the government meet its targets if such people are appointed in such organisations?
