Skipper Hanif leads from front

KARACHI, Dec 1: A splendid allround performance by skipper and Man-of-the-Match Hanif-ur-Rehman, coupled with fine left-arm spin bowling by Abdul Rehman, helped holders Tapal CC enter into the semifinal of the 17th Karachi Gymkhana Callmate Ramazan Trophy beating Karachi Gymkhana Blues by six wickets Sunday.

Winning the toss, Tapal asked the home side to bat first, who in turn were bowled out for 173 runs in 25 overs. Fahad Azeem top scored for KG Blues with 43 off 36 deliveries, laced with three huge sixes.

Abdul Rahman was the pick of the Tapal attack claiming five wickets for 33 runs. Off-spinner Hanif-ur-Rehman gave him splendid supports finishing off with three wickets for 33 runs.

Tapal with Hanif hammering 42 off only 23 deliveries studded with eight fours and a six reached the target 176 for the loss of four wickets with five balls to spare.

Left-arm Nadeem Moosa had figures of two for 31 and off-spinner Akhtar Munir two for 32 when victory came.
