Wasim Raja fines Butcher

PERTH (Australia), Dec 1: England batsman Mark Butcher was fined US$1,200 Sunday for slamming his bat into the stumps after he was dismissed on the final day of the third cricket Test against Australia here.

He was also reprimanded by International Cricket Council match referee Wasim Raja.

The fine equals 20 percent of Butcher’s match fee for the game. Butcher struck the stumps after being given out lbw by umpire Rudi Koertzen.He was charged with abusing cricket equipment.

Butcher, who made a duck, was the third of three English batsmen dismissed in the space of one run at the start of the day.—AFP
