MINGORA, Dec 1: The members of the National Assembly Maulana Qari Abdul Bais and Maulana Fazal Subhan have demanded of the government to find a peaceful solution to the problem created after the shifting of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education from Saidu Sharif to Chakdara Dir and remove the unrest among the people of Swat.

Speaking to the students of the post graduate Government Jehanzeb College here on Saturday the MNAs said that shifting of the board from Swat was an unjust decision and the governor should withdraw it forthwith.

They asked the people to continue their protest in a peaceful manner and they were trying to convince the governor and chief minister of the province to restore the board.

The press secretary of the Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) Swat Haji Sardar Ali also spoke to the students.

Earlier, the students took out a procession from the college and held a protest meeting at Suhrab Khan Chowk, which was addressed by Rasheed Ahmad of Islami Jamiat Talaba, Hayat Khan of Pakhtoon Students Federation (Pk SF), Gul Bashar of Pakistan Tehrik Insaf and Nazir Ahmad of Pakistan People’s Federation (Sherpao).

The students later on dispersed peacefully. Police force was deployed outside the college and on the main Saidu Sharif road to avert any mishap.

Meanwhile, the tehsil Swat Nazim Rafiul Mulk Kamran Khan in a statement here on Saturday has astonished as to why the issue was revived.

He said it had already been decided that the board would remain here and a branch would be opened in Dir and the government did so at that time.

He said if the issue was not resolved amicably it would create a misunderstanding among the newly elected members of the national and provincial assemblies.
