KARACHI: Returning Officer and Provincial Election Commissioner, Sindh has accepted 28 nomination papers of candidates after scrutiny for the forthcoming Senate elections scheduled for March 2.

On the first day of the scrutiny process,  the Election Commission accepted 28 nomination papers, filed by candidates of political parties including Pakistan People Party (PPP), Mutthada Qaumi Movement (MQM) and few others as independent.

The candidates whose nomination papers were accepted included Mian Raza Rabbani, Dr.Hafeez Sheikh, Saeed Ghani, Karim Ahmed Khawaja, Mukhtar Ahmed Dhamra, Muhammad Rashid Hussain Rabbani, Mrs.Muddassir Sehar Kamran, Mrs. Shahida Rehmani,Dr. Karim Ahmed Khawaja, Hari Ram, Harish Parwani, Kanwar Naveed Jameel, Ms.Nasreen Jalil, Kanwar Khalid Yunus Ali Khan,Dr.Muhammad Farogh Naseem, Col.(r) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, Arshad Abdullah, Syed Mustafa Kamal, Ms. Naila Munir,Arif Masih, Punjo Mal, Syed Muzzafar Hussain Shah, Abdul Ghaffar Qureshi,Mrs. Yasmeen Farukh, Photomal alias Dileep.

The nomination paper of Mangal Das Aurwani (independent) was rejected.

The Returning Officer will take decision on nomination papers, filed by Omer Khan Sherzai on Friday.
