ISLAMABAD, Feb 14: Capital Development Authority (CDA) will introduce water sports facility at Lakeview Park to promote healthy activities among people especially the youth.

A CDA official said the authority was considering different options to revamp sports facilities and upgrade playgrounds with the assistance of private sector.

At Lakeview Park phase-II, work on water sports facility, allied entertainment and recreational facilities would be completed on priority basis, the official said.

“Civic body is preparing a comprehensive plan to upgrade sports centre according to international standards,” he said and added:

“Islamabad is one of the beautiful cities in the world and all-out efforts would be made for the provision of sports facilities to the residents.”

The official maintained: “Youth is the real asset of a society and sports activities would keep them away from all kinds of negative activities.”

He said the sports areas consisting of football ground, basket ball court and badminton court with a jogging track would be developed in various sectors.

“Parks add value and pride to a city and play a major role in improving living conditions and the authority would ensure timely completion of development work with all safety and environment-friendly measures,” he said.

All kind of encroachments would also be removed besides completing development and maintenance work in all the parks which would be opened for the public soon. The maintenance and cleanliness would also be ensured at the parks, the official said.

“The civic body is facing financial crunch, however, a comprehensive plan is being devised to better economic health of the authority,” the official said. — APP
