PESHAWAR, Feb 10: The SHO of Nasir Bagh police station and a passer-by were killed, and another policeman was injured in an encounter with bike snatchers at Nasir Bagh Road late on Thursday night.

Passer-by Hashmat of Nasir Bagh was killed on the spot while SHO Nizakat Shah of Badhu Samarbagh (Charsadda road) succumbed to his wounds at Lady Reading Hospital on Friday morning.

A police spokesman said following information about presence of some motorcycle snatchers the SHO along with his personnel reached the spot but the robbers opened fire on the police party all of a sudden. As result a passerby Hashmat got killed on the spot while the SHO and driver of the police van Muzzamil sustained bullet injuries. They were rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital where the SHO succumbed to his injuries.

The funeral prayer of the slain SHO was offered at the lawns of Malik Saad Khan Police Lines on Friday. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Barrister Masood Kausar, Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, Senior Minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour, Rahim Dad Khan, Provincial Police Chief Akbar Khan Hoti, Capital City Police Officer Peshawar Imtiaz Altaf and others participated. — Bureau Report
