OVER the past two years, I have had a tough time in London, where I work, discussing cricket with my colleagues, following the disgrace brought upon our nation by spot-fixing cricketers. Indeed the act not only brought shame upon cricketing fans but upon us as a nation, as we unnecessarily gave our opponents the opportunity to sling mud upon us.

The trial that followed and subsequent jail terms for the accused did not help and kept the matter in the public eye.

After the crushing series victory handed by us to England, I am finally able to once again hold my head up high and be proud of my nation’s many talents.

The way we have turned things around both on and off the field should serve as a fine example for our country’s youth.

I pray for the continued success of the cricket team and our country as a whole.

Kudos to the champs BY beating England 3-0 in test matches, our boys have sent a strong message to the whole cricketing world, including India, that they are no less cricketers than any other team.

They have shown a sense of determination and confidence even after getting out at 99 and defending a mere 144 runs.

Misbahul Haq has been instrumental in leading the side. His cool attitude has played a vital role in the team’s overall performance.

The management of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also deserves standing ovation. Its new chairman is doing fine except changing the chief selector whose only interest seems to have his underperforming son-in-law, Imran Farhat, in the squad.

The PCB should have an unbiased chief selector.
