LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz’s chief Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday made it clear that unless his party’s demand for an independent Election Commission was met, there would remain an impasse on the issue of the 20th Amendment Bill, DawnNews reported.
Speaking to media representatives in Bahawalpur, Sharif said that if there was a delay in the Senate elections, the Pakistan People’s Party-led coalition government would be responsible for it.
He blamed the government for the country’s “deteriorating condition”.
On the subject of the creation of new provinces, Sharif said that although he supported the idea, he did not support the creation of new provinces on linguistic grounds.
The PML-N chief also advocated his support for the creation of a Bahawalpur province on administrative grounds.
