KARACHI: Wapda, Habib Bank Limited (HBL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) won as Navy and Army played a draw in the four 59th National Hockey Championship matches played at Hockey Club of Pakistan here on Tuesday.

Wapda thrashed PHF Academy 4-1.

The goals for the winners were scored by Aleem Bilal (third min), captain Rehan Butt (11th min), Mohammad Irfan (32nd min) and Rana Umair (56th min) as Ali Bhatti (35th min) scored the consolation goal for PHF Academy.

HBL edged out Pakistan Air Force (PAF) 4-3.

Hafiz M. Sardar (14th min), Mohammad Asif (20th min), Rizwan Khan (67th min) and Mohammad Ehsan (69th min) scored for HBL as Zeeshan Dilshad (37th min) and Ijaz (53rd and 60th mins) reduced the margin for PAF.

SSGC outclassed National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) 2-1.

The goals for SSGC were scored by Usman Tariq (10th min) and captain Shakeel Abbasi (56th min) as Mohammad Atiq (23rd min) scored for NBP.

Meanwhile, Army held Navy to a 1-1 draw.

Navy scored through Falak Zaman in the 55th minute and Abdul Jabbar restored parity or Army in the 62nd minute.

Wednesday’s fixtures: Navy v PAF (9.00am); PQA v PHF Academy (11.00am); PIA v Wapda (1.00pm); HBL v NBP (3.00pm).
