PESHAWAR, Feb 6: The Eid Miladul Nabi was celebrated in the provincial metropolis with religious zeal and fervour under tights security arrangements on Sunday.
The residents of the provincial metropolis took out at least 30 processions from different areas to express their love with the last Prophet (PBUH).In the main city and Saddar areas, rallies were taken out and congregations were held to mark the day. Religious scholars of different sects addressed the gatherings. Most of the buildings and mosques in the city were illuminated on the occasion.Separate processions were taken out from Milad Chowk, Namak Mandi, Hashtnagri, Nauthia and Wadpaga areas. The main rally was taken out from Idara Tableegh-i-Islam, which after passing through different bazaars culminated at Qissa Khwani Bazaar. Children and women showered flowers from different buildings on the participants of the processions.
Speaking on the occasion, religious scholars urged the nation to forge unity as taught by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to fight the existing challenges.
They said that the entire life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was a beacon and worthy of emulation by all as his personality was characterised by attributes of sympathy, generosity, bravery, mercifulness and hospitality.
The people in different localities also arranged Quran Khawani, Naat Khwani and offered prayers for solidarity and salvage of the Muslims and the Pakistani nation. A Naat Khwani programme was also arranged by women and students at Nishtar Hall. On the occasion, special security arrangements were made to facilitate people both in the Cantonment and city areas.
Police had cordoned off all the sensitive areas and security personnel remained alert on all the entry and exit points. The motorists and pedestrians were thoroughly checked and movement of the irrelevant people was restricted towards the route of processions. - Bureau Report
