ISLAMABAD, Nov 30: Up to a dozen youngsters have been selected to represent Pakistan in the four junior categories of British Open Squash Championship starting Jan 2.
The players were selected after trials to which top 10 players each were called in the categories of under-19, under-17, under-15 and under-13.
Four players each have been selected for the under-19 and under-15 sections and two each for under-17 and under-13.
The selected players are: Under-19: Alam Zeb Sr., Khalid Atlas, Shah Nawaz and Safeer Khan. Under-17: Farhan Mehboob and Yasser Butt. Under-15: Alam Zeb Jr., Bilal Zaman, Zahir Shah and Farzan Rashid.
The players to represent Pakistan in the team event of the world junior championship are: Khayal Muhammad, Arshad Iqbal Burki, Majid Khan and Safeer Khan.
These four plus Khalid Atlas and Shah Nawaz will also figure in the individual competitions of the world junior squash championship.
Meanwhile, visas of Belgium were stamped Saturday on the passports of five Pakistani players who are to appear in the World Open Squash Championship at Brussels, commencing on Dec 4.
Farrukh Zaman, Aijaz Azmat and Shamsul Islam Khan had their visas stamped from the Belgium embassy here while Mansoor Zaman and Shahid Zaman, now in London, have been asked to get their visas from their embassy in England.
The five Pakistani players will now arrive in Brussels on Dec 2 to play the World Open Squash Championship.
