Women lecturers back JAC

Published December 1, 2002

GUJRANWALA, Nov 30: Women lecturers will hold a protest meeting at the Government City College of Women at 10am on Monday against the constitution of boards of governors in educational institutions.

This decision was taken at a Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association (PPLA) meeting held here on Saturday.

Speakers said denationalization and formation of BoGs in educational institutions would deprive the poor of education.

Similarly, the poor would suffer if the government privatized health institutions.

PPLA divisional additional general secretary Prof Tahira Zia, Ms Nasim Chaudhry and Ms Robina Butt criticized the sacking of senior teachers and doctors of the joint action committee on the charge of taking out protest rallies in Lahore and demanded that they should be reinstated immediately.
