HYDERABAD, Nov 30: The survivors and the relatives of victims of the Nov 15 bus bomb blast staged a demonstration outside the local press club on Friday.

They were protesting against the non-payment of compensation to the families affected by the bomb explosion.

The protesters were also accompanied by the owner and the driver of the bus.

Speaking at a news conference, representatives of the protesters criticised the government officials for paying only lip service while doing nothing so far as the payment of compensation was concerned.

Two persons were killed and nine others were injured in the explosion, which ripped through a Kotri-bound bus (JA-0339) near the Circular Building in Hyderabad.

Expressing their concern, they said that the authorities had also failed to arrest the terrorists responsible for the bomb blast.

Dismayed over the lack of progress regarding completion of necessary formalities, the bus owner, Bashir Ahmed, said that the bus was still in the possession of police as necessary formalities had not been completed even after the passage of two weeks.

He added that he had purchased the bus on instalments and he was suffering financial losses.

The victims called for payment of adequate compensation to the families of the people killed and injured in the incident, adding that the bus should be returned to the owner without any further delay.

Abdur Rasheed Meo Rajput, whose brother, Mehmood Meo, the cleaner of the bus who was killed in the bomb blast also spoke on the occasion.
