ISLAMABAD, Nov 30: The Central Board of Revenue has notified 5 per cent customs duty on the import of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) machinery, compressors, conversion kits and cylinders.

The partial exemption in access of 5 per cent ad valorem would be effective till June 30, 2004, said a customs notification issued on Saturday.

However, the sales tax will not be applicable during the same period on the import of the same products, said the notification.

The government had exempted earlier from whole of customs duty and sales tax on import of all these products since November 1, 1997, till October 31, 2002.
