PESHAWAR, Jan 30: Suspected militants shot dead Malik Wazir, leader of a peace body of Mohmand Agency, at Bakhshi Pul area here on Monday.

Badrai Bibi, widow of the deceased, told police that her family had no enmity with anyone. “I was on way home along with my husband after offering fateha at the residence of a relative. Two masked men riding a motorcycle opened firing with automatic weapons on my husband when we reached Mandrakhel area,” she said.

She said that the attackers managed to escape after killing her husband. The woman said that her husband was leader of a peace body of Baizai area in Mohmand Agency but her family had shifted to Faqirabad area of Peshawar owing to the deteriorating law and order situation in the agency. Police said that a case against unidentified attackers was registered at Khazana police station and investigations were under way.
