Kashif strikes thrice

KARACHI, Nov 29: Three-goal Kashif Jawwad helped Munawwar-uz-Zaman XI overcome Zubair XI 7-3 in the Ramazan Champions Trophy hockey tournament at UBL Sports Complex Friday.

Kashif, a Pakistan striker, opened the account for Munawwar-uz-Zaman XI in the 3rd minute of the game, while Qavi Khan got the second in the 18th minute and Asad Qureshi converted a 21st-minute stroke.

Zubair XI reduced the margin through Ejaz Raza in the 37th minute but went further down when Kashif pulled another for his side in the 43rd minute to make it 4-1.

Discarded right-in Sameer Hussain pounced in the 45th minute for Munawwar-uz-Zaman XI.

Still breathing down the neck, Zubair XI kept on fighting and got their second the next minute from Izhar Hussain, while Altaf Ahmad slammed home the third in the 48th minute.

Qavi struck in the 53rd minute and Kashif wrapped up the proceedings when he scored off a penalty corner in the 56th minute.
