
KARACHI: The star-studded ZTBL team won the 1st Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Women Cricket Tournament by beating Punjab by 93 runs in the final at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday.
Winning the toss, ZTBL elected to bat first and put on 174 for the loss of four wickets in the 20 designated overs. Nida Dar top scored with 64 off 47 balls that included nine fours with Qanita Jalil matching up with an equal number of fours in her 37-ball 50. Bismah Maroof and Javeria Wadood remained not out on 13 and 17, respectively, as extras, too, reached double figures of 16.
In reply, Punjab Women could only score 81 runs for the loss of five wickets in the 20 overs. Opener Ayesha Qazi’s 25 runs made her the top scorer for Punjab with Iram Javed and Faryal Awan following with 15 and 18, respectively, as the rest only contributed four or five runs.
The match was umpired by Kausar Shah and Shakeela Rafiq with Tahir Shah acting as the TV umpire and Mohammad Anees the match referee.
Winners ZTBL walked away with Rs 100,000 while runners-up Punjab received Rs 50,000. ZTBL’s Nida Dar was declared Player of the Match and presented with Rs 10,000. She was also named Player of the Tournament for which she received Rs 25,000.
Federal Capital’s captain Mariam Hasan Shah got Rs10,000 for being named the Best Batswoman. Best Bowler ZTBL’s captain Sana Mir, Best Fielder Arman Khan of Balochistan, Best Wicket-keeper Sidra Nawaz of Federal Capital and Best All-rounder Qanita Jalil of ZTBL also received Rs10,000 each.
