MARDAN, Nov 28: The Election Tribunal, Mardan, here on Wednesday disqualified the Swabi District Nazim, Sher Zaman Sher, for submitting a fake matric certificate with the nomination papers and suspended the result of the local government election held in April 2001.

The runner-up candidate for the district Nazim slot, Jehanzeb, had challenged his matric certificate in the election tribunal. The case was pending in the tribunal for about 15 months.

The tribunal judge, Hayat Ali Shah, announced the judgment on Wednesday, disqualifying Sher Zaman Sher as district Nazim as his matric certificate was found to be fake. The tribunal, however, retained the district Naib Nazim, Mohammad Jamil advocate.
