ISLAMABAD, Nov 28: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration on Thursday issued a contingency plan to maintain law and order during Eid days.

Under the plan, issued by the district magistrate, Tariq Mehmood Khan, security of the worshippers and the general public would be tightened, and smooth parking and uninterrupted flow of traffic ensured during Eid Days.

Security arrangements have also been made for Jumatul Widah, Shabeena and Chand Raat. Guards will be deployed at mosques, specially during Taraveeh.

The police sources said all private security agencies had been asked to provide security guards free of cost to mosques in Islamabad. Similarly, different trade unions of the federal capital have been asked to bear expenses of hiring guards to be deployed at mosques.

All SHOs have been asked to hold meetings with the management committees of mosques located in the jurisdiction of their relevant police stations to implement the security plan in a better way.

According to the plan, atleast two guards would be deployed at every mosque during Taraveeh.

“Atleast one guard of any private security agency will remain inside the mosque and a gunman will be deployed at the gate of the mosque,” the sources added.

On Eid day only one gate of all the mosque would be used for the entrance and exit of Namazis.

A source told Dawn that in view of the increasing incidents of terrorism, the army might be called out in the federal capital and deployed at all exit points, entrances, chowks and other sensitive areas to avert any untoward incident.

Similarly, paramilitary troops and commandos of the elite force would also be deployed at all mosques, Imambargahs and other sensitive places of the federal capital to maintain law and order and provide security to the people.

Patrolling will be increased and police personnel in plain clothes will be deployed at all markets.
