HYDERABAD, Nov 28: The University of Sindh has approved the award of 10 Ph.D and three M.Phil degrees to scholars in various disciplines.

According to a notification issued by the registrar of the university, Dr Saeed Ahmad Soomro, here on Wednesday, the following scholars were awarded Ph.D degrees: Sher Mohammad Mangrio (Botany); Farooq Anwar (Analytical Chemistry); Mohammad (International Relations); Khalida Jamali (Economics); Syed Javed Iqbal (Urdu); Surriya Nasim Kazi (Sindhi); and Mahfooz Ahmad, Yahya Mohammad Amir Rashid, Abdullah Khoso and Hafiz Mohammad Hussain Siddiqui (Islamic Studies).

M.Phil degrees were awarded to Mohammad Shahid (Analytical) Chemistry, Arfana Begum (Chemistry) and Khalid Hussain (Fresh Water, Biology and Fisheries).

MERIT LIST: The director, admissions, University of Sindh, on Thursday released the merit list of candidates who had been provisionally selected for admission to bachelor’s degree courses.

The last date for filing of objection against any admission has been fixed at Nov 30 and the final list will be released on Dec 1.

The director, admissions, also released the merit list of selected candidates for admissions to master’s degree courses.

The selected candidates can deposit their admission fee up to Dec 10.

EXAMS: The University of Sindh announced on Tuesday the schedule for the first and second semester examinations, 2002.

According to the schedule, the first and second semester examinations of fresh candidates of all the departments and institutes of the university will begin on Dec 28.

The examinations forms for first semester (in white colour) and second semester (in yellow colour) will be available at the concerned departments/institutes from Dec 1.

Last date for submission of the examination forms has been fixed as Dec 16.

The University of Sindh has also announced that the BEd/MEd and MA, Education (previous) morning and evening, second semester examinations 2002, will be conducted from Dec 30 at the faculty of Education, Elsa Kazi campus, Hyderabad.

The last date for receipt of the examination forms has been fixed as Dec 14.
