KARACHI, Jan 19: Some 600 girls from different schools, colleges and clubs participated on the opening day of the ASC Netball Coaching, Development and Tournament Programme-2012 at the Mini Sports Complex here on Thursday.

Bibs, balls, literature and other sports equipment provided by Australian Sports Commission were distributed among the different school teams as 42 teams registered for the programme.

The officials, namely, Mudassar Arain, Khalid Parvaiz, Aijaz ul Haq, Shazia Yousaf, Zaib un Nisa, Anwar Ahmed, Arshad Khan, Jamal, Maqbool Ahmed and Yasir Javed delivered lectures while also providing coaching by physically demonstrating the techniques of the game while informing about the new international rules during the practice games.

The regular tournament will be played in two categories, namely, School/O-Levels and College/A-Level/Open starting Friday.

The event is being organised by Pakistan Netball Federation in collaboration with Australian Sports Commission and Sindh Netball Association.
