ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected a plea to reopen a reference prepared by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif, DawnNews reported.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by the Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry heard the plea regarding the confiscating of properties of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif and his family.

During the hearing, the chief justice said that no proper documents pertaining to the deal were produced. “The deal only has Sharif brothers’ signatures,” he added.

The chief justice directed NAB’s prosecutor to produce a legal two-way deal in which he failed.

Subsequently, the court ordered the authorities to release the assets of the Sharif family immediately and stated that the assets of other parties could not be seized in the reference against Nawaz Sharif.

“Any outstanding penalty charges shall be recovered from Nawaz Sharif,” ordered the court.
