TAXILA, Jan 17: Wah Cantt police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested 14 outlaws belonging to two gangs of vehicle and motorcycle lifters and recovered six cars and 15 motorcycles from their possession.

Sub Divisional Police Officer DSP Raja Taifoor Akhter, while addressing a press conference at Wah Saddar police station on Tuesday, said taking cognisance of increasing incidents of car and motorcycle lifting in Wah and its surrounding areas, a team under the supervision of SHO Saddar police station Inspector Mohammad Khan was formed which arrested the members of an intra-district gang of vehicle lifters along with its ring leader and recovered three cars and three vans stolen from different parts of the city from them.

The alleged culprits were identified as Liaquat Ali (ring leader), Rehmatullah, Shahid Khan, residents of Malakand, Israr Khan, a resident of Peshawar, Niaz Ali, a resident of Parachinar and Maqsood Mehboob, Tahir Alam, residents of Bhara Kahu, Shafeeq, Qamar, residents of Attock and Maqsood Khan, a resident of Abbottabad.

Moreover, during a crackdown against the motorcycle lifters, police busted a gang and arrested its four members identified as Mohammad Rafaqat, Babar Rasheed, Mohammad Arsalan and Zaheer Abbas. Police also recovered 15 motorcycles.

DSP Raja Taifoor said the police also arrested eight drug pushers and bootleggers and recovered 143kg charas and 110 litres of home-made liquor. —Correspondent
